OSHA 502 – Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers

This course is designed for Outreach Training Program trainers who have completed OSHA #500 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry and are authorized trainers in the OSHA Outreach Training Program. The course provides an update on OSHA Construction Standards, policies, and regulations. Upon course completion students will have the ability to demonstrate continued professional development in their field by applying effective adult learning principles and interactive training techniques to clearly identify, define, and explain construction industry hazards and acceptable corrective measures as they continue to teach the 10- and 30-hour Construction Outreach Training Program classes. Students will be asked to develop and present a 30-60 minute presentation during class time as part of the requirements to become an authorized trainer. To facilitate this, the use of a personal computer is welcomed into the course for the creating of the presentation.
OSHA #500 Trainers Course in OSHA Standards for the Construction Industry. Authorized Outreach Training Program trainers are required to attend this course once every four years (4) to maintain their trainer status. Prior to registration, students must provide a copy of their current Outreach Training Program trainer card or an official transcript showing successful completion of the OSHA #500 Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for Construction from their respective OSHA Training Institute Education Center, for verification of trainer status.
IMPORTANT: Please provide a copy of your current authorized trainer card and the prerequisite verification form. to the USF OTI Education Center via fax to 813-994-1173. If you do not provide a copy before the course or bring it with you to the course a new card/certificate will not be issued until one is on file with the USF OTI Education Center Office. Please note that your card must not be more than 90 days expired. If the card is more than 90 days expired you will need to retake the trainer course (50 for Construction) to remain active. If you do not have your card please contact the education center where you took the course for a copy or a letter stating that you are an authorized trainer and what your expiration date is.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
• Recommend current OSHA construction requirements and policies
• Describe new construction standards
• Identify training material resources
• Apply techniques and resources used by other construction outreach trainers.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation notification must be in writing (fax or email are acceptable) and received (not postmarked) 5 days prior to the start of the course. A cancellation fee equal to 25% will be assessed. Written cancellations received less than 5 working days prior to the event will be charged the cancellation fee plus the cost of the Manual and CFR. No-shows will be billed.
Substitutes are welcome without penalty. Please allow up to 2-3 weeks for any refunds. The USF Office of Continuing Professional Development reserves the right to cancel this activity due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of such cancellation, only the registration fee will be returned to the registrant. The USF Office of Continuing Professional Development will not be responsible for travel expenses incurred by the participant in case of cancellation.
